Planning a Jaipur Wedding from Twelve Time Zones Away
A meaningful share of the weddings we plan involve a couple or their parents living outside India, in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or the Gulf, who may only be able to visit Jaipur once or twice before the wedding itself. That changes the entire planning process. It has to work over video calls, WhatsApp, and shared drives, with in-person visits reserved for decisions that genuinely need eyes on the ground.
What Can Be Decided Remotely
What Genuinely Needs an In-Person Visit
Handling Contracts, Deposits, and Time Zones
For NRI couples, we recommend a formal power of attorney or a written authorization letter naming one India-based family member, often a parent, who can sign vendor contracts and release payments on short notice. This solves the most common breakdown we see, a vendor needs a signature or an advance released within 48 hours, and the decision-maker is asleep on a different continent. Pair this with a single weekly video call, ideally Sunday morning India time, which lands in a reasonable evening slot for the US and UK, rather than ad hoc calls that fragment across time zones. Route all payments through a single dedicated wedding account rather than family members wiring money individually. It keeps the budget visible in one place and avoids the currency-conversion confusion that comes from several people making separate international transfers.
